Having played the original Space Invaders when it came out in the late 1970s, I picked up a used Arcade1Up cabinet several months ago. Playing it was fun, but something seemed to be missing from the original experience. Once I did some research, I discovered that the original arcade game had a backlit mirror to give its black and white monitor a color 3D look. While I didn't want to find a semi-translucent mirror, I did manage to get something of the original playing experience by recessing the screen in a shadow box inside the cabinet and adding new custom graphics from LoudGraphX. Although no one else may attempt this mod, it was a lot of fun, and I really love what it did for my Space Invaders cabinet.
