Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick need no introduction to lovers of “folk” - having been at the forefront of the scene for over 50 years.

MARTIN CARTHY was born in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, 21 May 1941 and grew up in Hampstead, North West London.
His vocal and musical interests began as a chorister subsequently picking up a guitar after hearing "Rock Island Line" by Lonnie Donegan.
In the early 1960s, he would visit Ewan MacColl's “Ballads & Blues” club the influences becoming key to his own development as an artist.
Renowned as a solo performer of traditional songs and ballads, accompanied by his own guitar arrangements he has also been involved with many musical collaborations. He has sung with The Watersons, was an early member of Steeleye Span, and part of the Brass Monkey ensemble, which mixed a range of brass instruments with his guitar and mandolin and John Kirkpatrick's accordion, melodeon and concertina.
For many years he enjoyed a creative partnership with fiddle player Dave Swarbrick.

DAVE SWARBRICK was born, 5 April 1941, in Stoneleigh, Surrey. His family then moved to Linton, near Grassington, North Yorkshire, where he learned to play the violin.
In the late ‘40s the family moved again this time to Birmingham, where Dave attended Birmingham College of Art.
After winning a talent contest with his skiffle band, in which he played guitar, he was encouraged to switch back to the fiddle and join a ceilidh band.
In 1960 he joined the Ian Campbell Folk Group in 1960 and embarked on a successful recording career.
From 1965 he began to work with Martin Carthy, the association was a great success and Daves performances have gone on to become a benchmark for generations of folk fiddlers.
Dave sadly passed away in Aberystwyth, Wales, on the3 June 2016 (aged 75).
