After 13 years, the okapi has returned to Epulu Station in the heart of the Okapi Wildlife Reserve. Tundana—whose name means “together”—was safely relocated through a collaboration between ICCN, the Okapi Conservation Project, and WCS. Local keepers and Mbuti forest experts care for her every day, collecting fresh leaves at dawn and preparing her food in a way that mirrors natural browsing in the wild. Her presence renews cultural ties, strengthens community conservation, and marks a hopeful step for the okapi in the DRC.
