Learn weather terms in Spanish! Be ready to repeat with Ms. Sarah!

Talking about the weather in Spanish is a great ice breaker when meeting new people! It is something everyone can relate to, and it’s fun!

The weather in Spanish is easy for kids because they can use it right away in their everyday lives. Parents, you can help reinforce the language at home by asking kids about the weather and having them tell you in Spanish.

At first, you can just ask them yes or no questions, until they are comfortable using the full weather term themselves.

So in Spanish you can ask “is it sunny?” “It is hot?”

With enough repetitions, kids will be able to talk about a bunch of weather all by themselves!

Here are the phrases we learn in this video!
Hace calor - it’s hot
Hace frío - it’s cold
Hace fresco - it’s cool
Hace viento - It’s windy
Está nublado - It’s cloudy
Está lloviendo - It’s raining
Hace buen tiempo - It’s good weather
Hace mal tiempo - It’s bad weather

I forgot to add this one! And it’s one of my favorites! Hace sol - It’s sunny
(Pronounced “sole”)

And remember, we don’t pronounce the “H”, so “hace” sounds like “ah - say”

You can also say “un poco” for “a little bit”.

Hace un poco calor - it is a little hot

And you can say “mucho” for if it is VERY something

Hace mucho calor - it is very hot
