Crazy & Hilarious Bellhop Clement - Tower Of Terror - Disneyland Paris

I'm sure you know one of my favourite rides/attractions in the world is The Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror/Hollywood Tower Hotel, in Orlando, Florida.

It is an absolute masterpiece. The detail is astonishing! It had so much creativity and budget thrown at it. Every prop, piece of furniture, part of building you see has its own backstory and is positioned there for very specific reasons, that all ties into the story and theme. The amount of thought that’s gone into the music, the special effects, the pre-show, the set/scenery is just next level… hence why it’s one of my favourite rides in the world! Never mind the actual thrilling drop aspect, which is always good for an adrenaline junky! 🤩

Which is why I was SO curious to see how the Disneyland Paris version of Tower Of Terror compared. I was quite blown away by just how many differences there were. Even though lots of it felt quite similar, there are actually SO many differences... in every department. Especially the actual ride portion (the elevator shafts) ... At first, I didn't like it as much as the original, as it felt toned down in the scale/layout and the the show/build up aspect, and the theme-ing in the queue, and especially garden area were not as detailed. However, the more I did it, I grew to appreciate the differences in the story during the ride itself. It was actually quite nice that it felt like it's completely own version, and wasn't TRYING to be Florida's original. Particularly interesting how the loading of the elevators system works in Paris... COMPLETELY different!

Although there's lots of aspects of the Florida version I wish this one still had, I came away liking this version almost (ALMOST) an equal amount for different reasons (which is funny, as I went into it with the expectation I wouldn't like it even HALF as much!) and a lot of that, was down to some of the amazing cast members that I met who completely stood out to me. And it's so lovely to come away with new friends from meetings like this.

One of which, the most knowledgeable and kindest, being Bellhop Jara. She knew SO much about the workings and the smallest of details of the ride. She was so passionate about her work that it was infectious, and made the experience so much more enjoyable. A phenomenal cast member to chat to and learn from. As soon as she hit the button to make the pre-show play in English, I knew I had a friend! 😂🛎️

But probably one of the most ridiculously hilarious moments were my many encounters with Bellhop Clement. It's so interesting how some cast members don't want to even TRY acting the part by immersing themselves into it, and then the ones that do have a creative licence, as some like to play it very mysteriously, or spooky. Perhaps some quite serious and creepy, or just a bit "off"... but Clement played this role like I've never seen before. 🤪 He was outrageous. So random crazy and over the top, with such infectious, eccentric camp energy which I watched him maintain ALL day. (He must be shattered when he clocks off for the day! 😂) he almost reminded me of a spooky version of Carmen Ghia from "The Producers" (If he was a Bellhop!) I can't count how many times I've ridden the original in Florida, with amazing interactions from people like and the legend himself, the OG that is TJ. I rode this a LOT whilst in Paris too (to take in all the many differences) but I've never laughed so much on any Tower ride as I have when I got Lucky enough to have Clement welcoming me into the hotel... or even better, loading and operating the elevators. THAT was a hilarious experience! 🤣

Everyone loved him, and he added SO much to the unique experience... he really stood out, and it's cast members like him and Jara, TJ and that are keeping that old school, original Disney magic alive. (The magic that all the true fans are worried is quickly becoming lost with some of the stupid decisions I think those in power are making these days...) When they have so much time for you and are happy to chat, and make you smile. Believe it or not, not every cast member is like this... so I really hope Disney realise how lucky they are to still have people like this working for them. ✨ I tell you what, English theme park ride operators could learn a thing or two from this!
