Jane Wairimu Mwangi was born and raised in Nairobi. After losing both her parents, she moved to Dandora, where she met a man, fell in love, and eventually got married. Their union was blessed with two children.

One day, her in-laws told her that her husband could not build a house for her because she was not from their tribe.
