On the ground floor of the Denon wing of the Musée du Louvre are a series of rooms created in 1655 for the Queen mother of Louis XIV, Anne d'Autriche.
For more than 350 years, these rooms have been dedicated to a queen, a betrothed princess, the Royal Academy of Arts, the Borse, and eventually the Musée Central des Arts and Louvre. One thing has remained the same, the ceilings.
Designed by Francesco Romanelli and Michel Anguier, this series of five rooms is the only one out of 408 that has retained its original decoration.
These exquisite rooms were open for six months in 2024 but have closed again to the public until 2027. Walk through these rooms with me until you can see them in person. They are a sight to behold.
