Learn the two most popular methods of pruning coffee in Hawaii: the Beaumont Fukunaga and also the Kona Upright method. "Pruning" is generally done in December through March. "Shoot Selection" or Vertical Selection is done in the early summer months. Watch both videos for a full understanding of the processes.
Bob Smith and Bob Nelson are the resident Kona experts in farmer-to-farmer education and many growers attended their workshops every year as a refresher and to learn new tips. This workshop is from 2016. If you watch their other pruning workshops, you'll note the wealth of information that they share can change year to year, depending on the trees and the questions. It's worth watching them all.
