How to Knit Easy Beginner Shawl -- Waterline Simple Lace Shawl Pattern. This unique shawl is made from 1 side stitch that is then increased using a yarn over along the edge of every right side row to get a right triangle.

This free shawl pattern uses one ball of yarn with a gradual color change to create a lovely gradient. This pattern is made easy with the help of this free shawl tutorial video.

Learn how to do simple knit stitches that you need to know in order to make this pattern. How to do the knit stitch, how to do the knit front and back and front (kfbf), how to do a yarn over, how to do the knit 2 together (k2tog). Note that the yarn over is used both to increase and as part of the lace stitch pattern with the k2tog.

This pattern recommends a size 6 needle and I suggest using circular needles to accommodate the number of stitches you will have on your needle.
*In the video I used a larger yarn and needle than called for in the pattern to make the stitches more visible on camera*

Update: a Marly’s Minion brought this to my attention: Here is what is written: Repeat Rows 3–10, 1 more time (3 waves total), then work Rows 4-5 from Setup section, 9 times, then work Row 4 once more – 57 sts (20 sts from the beginning of the row to the marker, 37 sts after the marker).

What I would do is work through in the lace pattern 1 more time like written, then continue in the row 4 and 5 pattern (maintain the established pattern by skipping the first row 4) until you get 57 sts.
