Redfield created a scope in the 1970's that had the performance of an ACOG in regards to field of view, but it was too weird to be accepted by the hunting community and insufficiently tactical for the tactical community. The Redfield Widefield scope line was truly innovative and a fantastic design that was just too early for the market to accept.
