The Quarry (2022) Review

Supermassive Games returns with their first standalone game since Until Dawn. Sadly, they still can't seem to capture that same terror as they did back in 2015.

Star Review:

Gameplay – 4 stars
Happy to see the use of fix point cameras and plenty of QTEs. It plays like every Supermassive game as you would expect but with few updates.

Graphics – 4 stars
Again, nothing new on previous games here. Much better loading times that recent games though, and they make the most of the landscapes.

Immersion – 3.5 stars
Was pulled out of the game by some of the more unpolished elements but also got a couple of good scares thanks to being so caught up in the story.

Fun Factor – 3 stars
Was pretty easy to pass QTEs and there were very few exploration scenes which was a shame. I was also a bit surprised by the lack of choices at many points. They relied very heavily on cut scenes rather than gamer-controlled sections.

Story – 4 stars
Really enjoyed the werewolf plot but felt the pacing was very off and some elements just didn't make sense. Whilst the characters were interesting, some were heavily underused.
