ACITI Explained: India, Australia and Canada Form Powerful New Global Tech Alliance

The India–Australia–Canada Technology and Innovation Partnership — or ACITI — marks one of the most ambitious trilateral tech frameworks launched by major democracies in recent years. Announced during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Australian PM Anthony Albanese and Canadian PM Mark Carney at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg, ACITI aims to create a powerful cross-continental alliance shaping the future of global technology.

ACITI will advance cooperation in emerging fields such as quantum computing, advanced materials, AI governance, net-zero transition strategies, and next-generation manufacturing. It also places strong emphasis on supply chain resilience, ensuring reliable access to critical minerals, semiconductors and clean-energy components.

This new trilateral framework signals a strategic shift: major democracies are no longer content reacting to technological disruptions — they intend to shape them. Officials from the three countries will reconvene in early 2026 to push the initiative forward.
