DDLR or How to defend yourself in the streets with Savate

Savate or better Savate - Boxe Française is a modern combat sport but in the 19th cent. it was more:
it was the fighting art of the gangs of Paris the famous Apache. It was also a combat sport and a way for physical education, Soldiers of the French army trained it and it became a self defense method for the average man in the early 20th cent. to fight back on the street.

Defense de la rue by Jean Renaud, How to defend yourself by George Dubois and the art of self defense in the street or 100 ways to defend yourself in the street by Emil Andre are the books published at that time to bring self defence methods to the people.
This movement is like the sister art of Bartitsu in London. It contains also the use of the walking cane or knife and the popular Jiu Jitsu. If you call Bartitsu the first mixed martial art, the "defence in the street" is also an MMA.
For the French this was the best way to fight in the streets!
