𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒘𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒊𝒕?! 🍼Baby is fed in a way that allows a slower intake of milk -
it prevents over-feeding, gas and spilling that can occur for some of our little ones.
It's also great for babies who are still breastfeeding as it doesn't make bottle feeding so easy that bub might be reluctant to return to the breast.
When we pace feed our babies, they are in a more upright position with a well-supported head and neck. The bottle is held horizontally which creates a slower (but still steady) stream of milk so that the baby is not gulping it down and spilling it out.
With this technique
✨ baby swallows less air as they are not gulping and therefore will be less gassy
✨Baby has to work harder for the milk just like a brastfeed which can help reduce the chance of nursing or nipple refusal

Sit your baby on your lap so they are more upright rather than laying down
〰️ Hold the bottle horizotally, allow the milk to go into the teat, rather than completely upside down
〰️ Give the baby breaks. Take the bottle away, burp them, and resume.️
If you have a small baby and find it hard to keep them more in an upright position, you can lay Bub on a pillow on your lap, so they are on their side.
Put the teat to their mouth so that the bottle is in that horizontal position.
Same as above, give baby a break, sit them up to burp them, and resume.
✨ If you're a Breastfeeding mama but also give a bottle, it's a good idea to size down a teat size.
This will mean baby has to work harder for their milk - just like they would at the breast. Using a slower flow teat, combined with the pace feeding technique will help prevent bottle preference and keep breast and bottle on a level playing field
