Breaking Records: The Untold Story of the James River Pipeline (Full Documentary)

Go behind the scenes of a record-breaking feat in marine construction. "Crossing the James River" captures the planning, precision, and partnership behind the longest horizontal directional drill of its kind: 5,700 feet of 42” HDPE pipe beneath the James River in Newport News, Virginia.

This documentary showcases how the collaboration and expertise of our talented partners—lead engineer Dewberry, engineering consultant Brierley Associates Corporation, underwater marine construction specialists Seaward Marine Corporation, and trenchless specialists Huxted Trenchless. Together, they brought an ambitious vision to life for HRSD’s Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow (SWIFT), a program to safeguard groundwater resources in Eastern Virginia.
