The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams representing nations of the world compete. FIDE organises the tournament and selects the host nation.
The 44th Chess Olympiad, organised by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE) and comprising open and women's tournaments, as well as several events designed to promote the game of chess, will be held in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu,India from 28 July to 10 August 2022.This will be the first Chess Olympiad to take place in India.
Chennai’s iconic Napier bridge has been given a makeover to resemble a chess board ahead of the 44th Chess Olympiad.The entire surface of the bridge has been repainted with white and black squares to a chess board. #chennai_chess_2022
