In this video, we take a look at the tone blending features of the UA 4-710d preamp in a small four mic drum recording setup. The 4-710d is connected to a UA Apollo through Adat.
We´ve compared the following tone blending settings:
100% solid state
100% tube
50/50
(Please use good quality headphones or monitoring)
The audio material is not mixed/edited, what you hear is the pure audio coming from the preamps/converter to give you a good reference.
The recording setup in detail:
DW birch drum kit
various cymbals (UFIP, Istanbul, Anatolian, Paiste etc)
GIK Acoustics Alpha Wood & Polyfusor panels
Microtech Gefell M300 (overhead mics, spaced pair)
Shure Beta 52a (kick mic)
Shure SM57 (snare mic)
