A look at the games released for SNK's NeoGeo platform!

The NeoGeo MVS was a powerful arcade platform - that was also sold packaged and sold as a home system (AES); so wonderful arcade games would be the exact same when played at home.

This was something that was simply unequaled at the time of its release; arcades were still the major source of gaming and home gamers were used to watered down ports, on consoles that weren't anywhere near as powerful as their arcade brethen. The NeoGeo changed all that; for the first time, there wasn't a need for a "port"; it was literally the same game.

Unfortunately, this came at a very significant cost; the system itself cost a fortune, and each game itself cost about the same as one of the 8/16-bit consoles - making home ownership only for a privileged few.

The platform was home to some amazing games - with franchises like King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug being predominant. The hardware was particularly well suited for fighting games - and there were certainly a lot of them!
