In this documentary, I break down why some of the most honest, raw, and authentic rappers like Areece, Emtee, Priddy Ugly in South African hip-hop always seem to struggle with mainstream support. Not because they lack talent, but because they don’t play industry games, don’t fake relationships, and don’t water themselves down.

This video looks at artists who were labelled “difficult”, “underrated”, or “too much” when in reality, they were just being themselves. Sometimes the truth is uncomfortable, and SA hip-hop doesn’t always know what to do with artists who refuse to bend. 🥀

This isn’t about hating the industry or glorifying struggle. It’s about understanding why being real in SA hip-hop often comes at a cost.
