This is a fun and educational series of melee games based on the attempted capture of a French Napoleonic era Imperial Eagle by a squad of British infantry. The Eagles were protected by troops with halberds, as well as swords for the eagle bearer and officers. The British get muskets with bayonets, a spontoon for sergeants and swords for officers. This leads to an interesting rock, paper, scissors kind of match up.
The rules are -
All target zones
Cut and thrust for sword and Halberd
Thrust only for Bayonet.
No one handed or butt strikes
The Eagle must make it to the far wall for the French or the opposite wall if captured by the Brits, either is a victory and ends the game.
Eagle is not a weapon and must be dropped if bearer hit.
Any significant strike (inc double) and you are out.
We used the opposite objective walls to give a sense of urgency and put emphasis on the eagle rather than a team deathmatch. To win the Eagle must reach the far wall for the French, or be taken to the French starting position by the British.
