Zacary Taylor, 21, of Splendora was southbound on Huff Road early Sunday morning when he left the roadway to the left side of the road. He then overcorrected, crossed the road, and struck a large tree. The impact ripped the right wheel from the truck and the truck began to flip ejecting Taylor. Montgomery County Hospital District and Splendora Fire Department were dispatched tot he scene at 5:43 a.m. after a passerby found the crash on the roadway which has very little traffic.
Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts responded to the scene at the request of DPS. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy was ordered by Judge Metts who also ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport Taylor to the Montgomery County Forensic Center.
Taylor was believed to have been traveling at a speed greater than the posted 30 miles per hour when the crash occurred. He was not wearing his seatbelt.
The crash was investigated by DPS Trooper Evans and Sgt. Leitner.
EMC Wrecker Service removed the vehicle from the scene.
