This Walmart In Pittsburgh, PA Is Permanently Closing. Closing on November 11 for good. This store opened around 2003-2004 after Ames went out of business here in 2002 as part of a chapter 7 bankruptcy. Prior to Ames, this was a Hills department store until 1999 when they were acquired by Ames department stores. Both were reginal discount department stores very similar to Walmart in the northeast and New England. Several factors contributed to the company making the decision to close this store. Many people are upset as this was a very convenient store to stop at in the busy Fox Chapel area especially for those who depend on the bus or otherwise don't drive. Even for me, this was convenient as it was 10 minutes away.
