This is a C-VHS Tape I found, which I bought with a used C-VHS camera. Since I don't have a tape converter I ended up taking apart the tape and using a regular VHS tape as a shell.
This footage starts off with a video recording of a TV screen. This is local coverage of the November 19th, 1999 High School football game with the Weber Warriors going against the Bountiful Redhawks. This was one of the only things that helped me get a time period for the tape. After this is a few clips of several people driving around in a decorated car celebrating Weber winning the game. The tape appears to have been recorded over several times throughout the duration, including portions of a graduation ceremony. (Maybe Weber High School, although it's also possible the ceremony is for Weber State University. I'm not entirely sure since I don't recognize the building.)
I have been debating posting this video, since I wanted to try and find the owners of the footage. Unfortunately, while there are a lot of faces, I wasn't able to identify anyone, and only first names are used. It appears part of the tape is a Thanksgiving/Christmas family gathering. The video also has a few interesting shots of driving around North Salt Lake City and random moments you normally wouldn't expect someone to film, I find it too interesting not to post.
Some technical notes: I have been experimenting with getting good quality results for video de-interlacing and framerate doubling. For this tape I used a FFMpeg script, using the AI assisted de-interlacing filter nnedi3, along with spline upscaling interpolation and a sharpness filter. While I usually avoid AI for video enhancement, I really like the results of nnedi3 for its minimal approach. As I understand it, it uses cubic interpolation for most of the missing data, and AI interpolation for the portions where cubic interpolation performs poorly. I'm not sure exactly how it decides this, but the results are really good and seem to pretty much always be an improvement from exclusively using standard cubic interpolation, so I'm happy with the result.
