*Saturn Stories*: Simon Jacobs' Out of This World Tales of David Bowie

I spoke with Simon Jacobs, author of "Saturn Stories," a cult-classic collection of surreal short stories about David Bowie. First published in 2014 and revised and updated in 2024, the book imagines Bowie through strange and dreamlike scenarios that reflect both fandom and artistic invention. In our conversation, Simon discussed the origins of "Saturn Stories," the process of revisiting the collection a decade later, and the ways Bowie’s work continues to inspire literature and art. We explored the interplay between pop culture and surrealism, and how stories about Bowie can reveal something larger about identity and imagination. The discussion provides a rare glimpse into how an artist re-engages with his own work across time, while staying true to the eccentric spirit that shaped it. As a special feature, the video includes a reading of one of the "Saturn Stories" by actor coach and multi-hyphenate artist Melissa “PK” Tonning-Kollwitz.
