Boys from the County Hell at the Singapore Esplanade (DBS Foundation Outdoor Stage) on 19 September 2025, as part of the Crossing Borders Festival.
Based in Singapore, Boys from the County Hell (BFTCH) have established themselves as the quintessential tribute to legendary folk-punk band, The Pogues. Formed by a group of passionate musicians who share a love of The Pogues gritty, poetic and raucous spirit, BFTCH dedicate themselves to giving an authentic Pogues experience to fans and newcomers alike.
At the heart of BFTCH is the commitment to replicating the raw energy, intricate musicianship, and chaotic delivery that The Pogues are renowned for. In order to achieve this authentic sound, the 8-piece band (including banjos, accordions, whistles) expands to include female guest vocalists and even a brass section. To our knowledge, no tribute act in the world is more dedicated to replicating the legendary Pogues sound.
Their repertoire spans the full breadth of The Pogues' discography, from raucous anthems like "Sally MacLennane" and "Fiesta" to poignant ballads like "A Pair of Brown Eyes" and "Rainy Night in Soho", along with many more crowd favorites and deep cuts.
With the passing of Shane MacGowan in 2023 there has been a resurgence of interest in The Pogues’ music. Recognised as one of the best Irish writers since James Joyce, MacGowan’s lyrics can be anarchic, poignant, brazen, and cheeky. Paired with frenetic melodies and perfectly crafted songs, The Pogues music incite participation wherever it’s performed.
Bringing their unique brand of chaos to party-goers at bars, clubs and festivals, BftCH are must-haves at events where alcohol is served.
Boys from the County Hell are determined to keep the memory of Shane MacGowan and the music of The Pogues alive and kicking.
Whether you're a lifelong fan of The Pogues or a curious newcomer to their music, BftCH offer an exhilarating experience that captures the chaos and tenderness of the legendary band. Come see for yourself, and be transported back to the County Hell, where the music is loud, the drinks are flowing, and the spirit of The Pogues lives on.
