7-Day Alaskan Cruise | Norwegian Encore | Day 4 - Skagway, AK

Day 4 in Skagway, AK.

Right after getting off of the cruise ship we all took the wrong bus. We thought the bus would take us to our excursion of Klondike Gold Fields & Panning/White Pass Railway train ride. But instead it was only shuttling thru Skagway. So we had to wait on the bus for it to finish it's route in town then circle back to the cruise ship to board the correct bus right next to it.

While on the correct bus we were given a tour guide of everything on way to Klondike Gold Fields & Panning. When you arrive you're given a small intro about the local gold mining history and then it's off to gold panning. I was scared the whole time being extra careful not to drop any gold but when asking for help they just come thru shaking and sloshing everything. I did end up walking away with some gold flakes.

Afterwards we did the White Pass Railway train ride which was amazing. And to make it even better was the weather. I stayed pretty much 90% of the time in the back/outside of the train just taking in all the views. The train does end in Fraser, B.C. which requires you to have your passport on you. And then it was about an hour bus ride back to Skagway.

Back in Skagway, we finally got to roam around town. We did get to hit one spot we wanted to check out and that's eating Fry Bread at Klondike Doughboy. We then walked around visiting different jewelry stores and gift shops before getting on the bus back to the cruise ship.

We ended the night having dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse. And I have to say everything I tried was delicious. I ate the lobster bisque, lamb chops, and finished it off with an OMG Butterscotch Cheesecake.
