Ayubowan - a word that means “may you live long” is more than a greeting. It is a blessing, a welcome, and an offering of peace and presence. The opening act of Narthana 2025 is a tribute to tradition and a celebration of movement performed by the Company Dancers of KD Co. Drawing from the powerful dynamism of Kandyan dance, the pulsating rhythm of Pahatharata, and the elegant grace of Bharatanatyam, this piece is a rich tapestry of Sri Lanka’s vibrant dance heritage.

Presented by Kandyan Dancers Company, Narthana 2025 was a sold-out showcase at the Shaw Theatre, Kings Cross, bringing Sri Lanka’s vibrant dance and music traditions to a London stage. Curated by dance practitioner, choreographer, and author Dilini, the performance highlighted classical and folk styles performed by a new generation of artists celebrating identity, tradition, and innovation. This year, the event proudly supported the Sahana Foundation, a UK charity funding education and healthcare initiatives across Sri Lanka.
