#Orchha, a 16th-century #Bundela capital in #MadhyaPradesh, uniquely worships Shri #Ram as its reigning king, #RamRajaSarkar. Government officials and police participate in daily as well as special rituals.
Queen Ganesh Kunwari brought the child idol of Rama from #Ayodhya. Shri Rama set three conditions: Pushya Nakshatra specific travel, first resting place will be his permanent residence, and he would be Orchha's sole king.
The idol, placed in the queen's palace, refused to move to the grand Chaturbhuj Temple, fulfilling a condition. The palace became the Ram Raja Mandir, and Bundela kings served as Rama's representatives.
This unique tradition continues post-independence. The Madhya Pradesh government provides a daily #GuardOfHonor, with police offering four ceremonial salutes to Ram Raja Sarkar, a living testament to faith.
