How to Repair Your DLG Boom

Throwbot presents how to repair DLG booms, fins and fin/boom attachments. He has experienced with repairing a Twister, Predator II, and a home built carbon fiber plane Burnt Pickle (see previous YouTube SBSS program on this). His latest plane is a Concept X5 from STREAM TEAM. He shows the materials used, how to do a temporary carbon fiber piece to get it aligned and Poly Ply to sap the extra resin out during the cure. After that step he wraps the rest of the break with mono directional carbon fiber and Poly Ply and a sets up to get the entire boom aligned correctly for a final cure.

A couple of points not mentioned here is people often use a piece of right angle aluminum sliding door track to get a straight oriented repair on the boom. Also check the recommend expiration date on your epoxy resin and hardener before using…don’t ask me how I know.
