Sunday Longplay - Actraiser Renaissance (PC) - Special Mode (Divine Difficulty, 20,000,000 Points)

This week's Sunday Longplay also doubles as the final episode to my Actraiser Renaissance series. After beating Tanzra in the regular game, you unlock Special Mode, where you play through all of the action stages in an attempt to get as high of a score in each stage as you can. It's kind of like Professional Mode in the original game except only playing one stage at a time (though a Professional-like arcade mode would be a nice addition for future DLC). Score is calculated based on enemies killed and crowns collected (crowns are worth 50,000 points each and are in the same spots where the magic scrolls were) with a multiplier based on time and lives remaining.

This mode also has an exclusive harder-than-hard difficulty setting known as Divine Mode that isn't available in the main game. In the main game you can grind your character all the way up to level 99, and Divine Mode was pretty much built with that in mind. Even with max HP (999), enemies can still rip you to shreds in just a few hits on Divine mode.

There are five achievements associated with this mode: one for completing all of the stages on each difficulty setting (though clearing them all on a higher setting with unlock the achievements for the difficulties below it as well), and another for achieving a high score total across all stages of 20 million points. As you see here, you don't need to complete every stage to get to 20 million, but you do need at least an A Rank in each of the pre-Death Heim stages to get there.
