La parola "febbre", oltre a contemplare il significato di "piressia, aumento della temperatura corporea", ha anche un significato figurato: è la smania, la frenesia, il desiderio incontenibile di qualcosa. L'espressione "febbre del sabato sera" è stata consolidata dal successo dell'omonimo film con John Travolta (Saturday night fever, 1977), i cui protagonisti rispecchiano l'ideale di vita dei giovani degli anni '70: la loro vita è basata sul "sabato sera" e sui divertimenti del ballo da discoteca.

The word "fever", in addition to contemplating the meaning of "pyrexia, increased temperature of the crust", also has a figurative meaning: it is the mania, the frenzy, the uncontainable desire for something. The expression "Saturday Night Fever" has been consolidated by the success of the film of the same name with John Travolta (Saturday night fever, 1977), whose protagonists reflect the life ideal of the young people of the '70s: their life is based on the "Saturday night" and on the entertainment of the disco dance.
