4K Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular - Show Stops Abruptly During Dr.Facillier Portion - WDW 2025

Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular has returned as part of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, which runs in Magic Kingdom Park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. This stage show is presented exclusively at the party, a special ticketed event that runs select nights between early August-October 31st each year. It debuted in 2015 and replaced Villains Mix and Mingle, the former stage show at the party. This show is a fan favorite, inspired by the Hocus Pocus film duology, and runs multiple times per night. This is the shortened/contingency version of the show that runs when the full length show cannot, such as a rainy night, or when there is an unforeseen circumstance. In the early afternoon of August 29th 2025, there was a severe thunderstorm that caused a massive power outage across the Walt Disney World Resort, impacting over 40 attractions. By the time the party began at 7pm, most of the issues were resolved and the storm was long gone. The full version of Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular was unable to be presented the whole evening.
The 9:05pm performance began as normal, but stopped abruptly at the beginning of the Dr.Facillier scene. An announcement was made saying that "this performance has been delayed due to unforeseen circumstances". A few minutes later, the shortened version of the show began and ran with no issues.
The short version also ran for the 10:35pm performance, with no attempt made to run the full show.
Surprisingly, the full version of the show began for the 12am performance, and everything seemed to move smoothly. The show abruptly stopped right before the Oogie Boogie segment, with the same announcement playing. A few minutes later, the shortened version of the show began and ran with no issues. This was the 9:05pm performance, and after watching my recording multiple times, I have developed my own interpretation of what happened. At timestamp 7:12, one of the lights on stage left (right side of the video) begins to flash at the front of the stage. This is not normal, and I cannot tell whether this light is actually used to light up the stage, or is a "safety" light. The microphones are cut at 7:21, and the show stop happens right after. At timestamp 7:46, the typical thorn/candle projections that appear throughout the show suddenly swap to the Dr.Facillier projections. This is also not normal, as changes between projections are always a fade out/fade in, not a sudden change. You can see the candles right below the clock on the castle slowly fade away at 7:21 (normal), and then reappear (not normal), but they are not "flickering" upon returning. It's possible there was a glitch that resulted in an improper transition, which was delayed until 7:46. However, it could just be the show operators & designers simply testing if the projection system is working with the 7:46 transition rather than a glitch. It could have been more of a safety issue. Considering how the weather was perfect at this time in the surrounding area, it couldn't have been weather related. But all of this is also speculation. The shortened version of the show ran with no issues following a 10 minute delay.

This video was filmed during the 1st performance of Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on August 29th 2025. The show began at 9:05pm. Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is performed 3 times per night in August-September, and 4 times per night in October.
