I sew a sheer white nightgown and matching bloomers inspired by iconic gothic romance heroines from Dracula, Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights to old pulp novel covers.
As I draft and sew the garments, I talk about what defines a “gothic heroine,” and why the gothic romance genre still resonates. This project is a love letter to wild spooky women who get in over their heads, castles or not.
