Screamin' Jay Hawkins (Jalacy Hawkins) was an American singer, songwriter and actor. Most famous for his powerful voice and wildly theatrical live performances, accompanied by macabre props on stage (skulls, gothic costumes and voodoo symbols), he has been considered "the first shock rocker".
The song 'I Put a Spell on You' was banned by most radio stations due to its outrageous style, but it became a cult hit and reportedly sold more than a million copies.
