Join us as we climb Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland's highest peak at 850 meters. This epic hike through the Mourne Mountains offers stunning views across County Down, the Irish Sea, and on clear days, Scotland and the Isle of Man.
We tackle the Glen River trail, covering 11km with 1056m of climbing. This is one of the best hikes in Northern Ireland and a must-do for anyone exploring the Mournes.

📍 GETTING THERE:
Slieve Donard is located in Newcastle, County Down, just 1 hour south of Belfast.
🎒 WHAT TO BRING:
Hiking boots (trail is rocky)
Waterproof layers (weather changes quickly)
Food and plenty of water
Navigation (phone signal can be spotty)
Warm layers for summit (always windy)
BEST TIME TO HIKE:
April to September offers the best conditions, though Slieve Donard can be climbed year-round by experienced hikers. Winter requires additional preparation.
This hike is perfect for a Belfast day trip or as part of exploring the Causeway Coastal Route. The Mourne Mountains were the inspiration for C.S. Lewis's Narnia and offer some of Ireland's most dramatic landscapes.
