SM64 Speedrun Evolution: The HARDEST Star in 120 Star

What only became the hardest star in 120 star speedruns this year has taken a long road to get there.

"pond red early" idea (shown from batora's 140) was actually first revealed in 2013 by usamune and his ideas 2013 video. He re-published it 2016 and people started picking it up. The 3rd red and on-ward from kyman's video is kyman's idea though.

I was inspired to make this video because I had been practicing this star recently, and seriously have found it to be one of the hardest stars in 120 star speedruns to find consistency. I reached out to Puncay, Cheese, Liam, and Paracusia to confirm that this is the hardest star, and they all agreed. I knew I had to explain how this star got here.
