Jude Taylor shares his experiences of using singing as a way to improve his own physical and mental health, and how he has developed and delivered singing for wellbeing group sessions for beginner adult learners in his local area.

Jude Taylor is a composer, lyricist, writer and singer from Leicestershire. In 2012 he founded the ‘Cognito People’ collective and went on to deliver several small community arts projects, including work with partners such as Leicester’s Curve Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse and YoungMinds. His first full length musical ’Steep Themselves in Night’ premiered at The Other Palace in London in October 2018, and he released his  latest EP, “Hey Jude Taylor”, in 2019.
Jude is a classically-trained baritone and as a vocal teacher has worked with singers of all ages and abilities. His main area of interest is musical theatre and acting through song, and in addition to his extensive experience in facilitating sessions for young musical theatre students he has also worked with actors with West End and international credits through his work as a composer.
Following 6 years of working in the third sector with mental health services alongside his work in the arts, Jude has also developed a particular passion for promoting singing for wellbeing and championing the health benefits of singing, leading him to develop several singing courses/groups for adults with mental health difficulties.
