A great brain game for Senior dogs or dogs with fear anxiety or reactivity is to learn to discriminate between two colors. Use two objects that are the same excel one is blue and one is yellow. Either chose which color will always be the treat color and start with that color. Wait for a nose bump or paw and click and treat. After 10-20 success add the non treat color. The goal is 80% accuracy. If not, review the treat only color.
If you want to reach the name, then you start with either color and right before the dog paws or boops, say the name of the color.
Teach each color separately before combining them. This is super fun! Do the same with size discrimination. Ex. A paper towel roll and a toilet paper roll.
