In episode 134 of Whisky in SV, Ralf and I tasted the Laphroaig Cairdeas 2024 “Cask Favorites” 10 Year alongside the 2014 Amontillado-finished release. For me, it wasn’t even close — the Amontillado came out on top with its beautifully balanced peat and vibrant fruity notes. In contrast, the 2024 release was heavy on the ash and felt one-dimensional.
