Part 2 of the first sail of the 2025 season; which was delayed due to ongoing work in the forward locker.
This video covers me actually attempting to get to Burgh Island and covering a total of 33.5NM over 7h15m, completely under sail.
This sail showed I still have things to sort out.
The echo sounder cables appear to have degraded and I kept losing connection to the transducer, which meant I wasn't going to risk going too shallow etc.
I really should look into getting a reefing jib and setting up for 2nd reef. In the past I've just said if it gets too rough for a single reef I'll just pack up and run the engine, but I'd like to make sure I'm able to do either.
Unfortunately the X3 camera, used for the shots from the stern, ran out of battery not long into the sail so is biased that way. I thought I had enough spare batteries but apparently they hadn't been charged. My bad! Will try better next time.
