Chiroptophobia - the intense and irrational fear of tentacles.
Ommetaphobia - the intense and irrational fear of eyes - specifically, in this case, disembodied eyes.
Gator has both, eyes to a lesser extent. Octopuses are the only thing Gator cannot picture or talk about for long without getting viscerally unnerved - nevermind actually seeing one.
Disembodied eyes also are unsettling for him; disembodied mouths, too. I think it's because with an octopus, all the body parts are in the wrong spot. Also, I partially blame Full Metal Alchemist. If you've seen the show, you know what I'm talking about.
