Full Moon Party trash has been a problem on the island of Koh Phangan for many years. This legendary party has been a fixture of backpacker itineraries since the 1980s, bringing thousands of tourists to Haad Rin beach every month - but for locals - it’s always been a source of tension.

Unfortunately, the Full Moon Party aftermath sees tonnes of plastic and glass waste dumped into the shores of Haad Rin beach. The hundreds of beer bottles left behind are a sad sight for the locals who love the nature of their home.

So what can be done to tackle this Full Moon Party waste? And what is Koh Phangan like now? Well, some local monks near Thong Nai Pan beach decided to do something about it. Which is why we went in search of a very unique beer bottle sculpture in the north of the island - and also kept an eye out for even more beer bottle artwork.
