Wendy Kenyon
Wendy Kenyon works with the Missing Salmon Alliance as Programme Manager for Wild Salmon Connections. Between 2019 and 2023 she was Assistant Secretary at the North Atlantic Salmon Conservation Organization (NASCO) and prior to that worked at the Scottish Parliament, supporting MSPs on their work in relation to agriculture, fisheries and elephants. She has also dabbled in academia, research and university teaching.
In this presentation, Wendy showcases successful conservation efforts to bring endangered species like the Saiga antelope back from the brink of extinction. Wendy then discusses parallels with the plight of wild salmon, emphasising the need to communicate salmon's importance to the wider public, strengthen existing organisational structures, and mobilise nature finance. The presentation concludes by introducing Wild Salmon Connections, a major international conference to be held in January 2025, which aims to promote an urgent, renewed focus on wild salmon conservation.
