Knitting tutorial - how to work a crochet provisional cast on

In this tutorial I'm showing you how to work a crochet provisional cast on in your knitting project. This is a quick and simple technique that lets you release your cast on stitches back onto your needle, so you can then work with them later in your project.

This video was originally created for my Max Actually knitted hat, which uses a provisional cast on as part of the folded brim, but the same technique can be used anywhere a pattern calls for a provisional cast on.
