John C. Roberts is a Master Artisan, a designation received from the Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council. He learned his craft through work in harness shops and leather factories and self-teaching. John augmented his hands-on-learning with travel, museum study and constant reading of trade books and magazines.
At Leather Works, different methods are used to create various products. The leather fire buckets are hand stitched using the same technique as were used in the 18th and 19th century originals.
The contemporary goods—belts, bags, wallets, dog collars, aprons—are crafted using modern methods of construction.
