Awesome flow tech right here in New York – MTB Sterling Forest – Just Ride Ep. 29

This place was amazing! We were blown away by the awesome flow tech at Sterling Forest State Park in NY. From flowy fast sections and tricky rock gardens, to huge rock slabs and skinnies, New York had us feeling the stoke.

ABOUT THE RIDE:
This place was suggested to us by serval viewers after watching my Ringwood video, and now I can see why. For a relatively small park this place packs a major punch. There is something here for riders of all ability levels, especially if you’re looking to progress your MTB skills.

The climbs were graded nicely for the most part, and there are a few rock gardens that will keep you on your toes. The terrain was a good mix of machine built flow with optional kickers, and raw tech lines that will challenge the strongest of riders. And if you are looking to advance your skills there were quite a few optional features throughout to session.

ROUTE SUGGESTIONS:
We rode the loop counterclockwise, but this can definitely be fun in either direction. In fact, we ended up going back for quite a few features we didn’t want to miss out on. If you park at the Laurel Meadow Ponds Lot the actual loop does not start until mile two.

The trail starts with a gradual climb with a few fast machine built flow sections that help break up the climb. Once you enter the loop there will be a good mix of raw and hand built trail, as well as a few climbs and downhills. Make sure to keep your head on a swivel because there will be plenty of alt lines and trail side features throughout.
