The theme was ‘Music for Peace’, and the evening opened with ‘Manabatar Gaan’ (Songs of Humanity)—a Baul performance by young artists Purna, Rashidul, and Khokon, mentored by maestro flautist Tarun Chaudhuri. A significant moment followed: Seraikela Chhau Guru Malay Kumar Sahu and his troupe performed at the very venue where his father, Padma Shri Kedar Nath Sahoo, showcased Chhau in 1937 during Mahatma Gandhi’s visit.
Brazilian guitarist Baladeva Nitai (formerly Bruno) added an international note to the event, while urban folk artists like Pranes Som, Joy Sankar, Dipannita Acharya, Deepmoy Das, Debalina, and others filled the space with soul-stirring music. Musical collective Gaanpanthi performed original compositions, while Rj Rayan and Biswajyoti Banerjee of BIG FM hosted a thought-provoking segment. Dinesh Shastri’s ‘Give Peace a Chance’ rounded off a heartfelt evening.
