Cinema at home: Independence Day (recreating Odeon cinema 1996 intro reel)

While Independence Day was released in time for 4th July in the US, UK audiences had to wait until 9th August 1996 to see what they were missing. When it did arrive, the anticipation was enormous - I vividly recall show after show selling out at the cinema where I worked at the time.
Here's an intro reel for a screening from that summer. Though the distributor-chain links were all but gone by this point, the Odeon still seems the natural home of 20th Century Fox productions, hence the branding here. Sadly, supporting features were extinct by this point in UK cinema history, hence the relatively brisk running time - we'll head back to the 70s and 80s before long!
