Durch den Fremdenverkehr gewinnen neben der Stadt Karpathos auch andere Orte der Insel zunehmend an Bedeutung. Der südliche Teil der Insel ist bei Windsurfern wegen seiner hohen Windstärke beliebt.
In den Gewässern rund um Karpathos gibt es noch häufig Delfine.
