"My studio has large windows facing south. As I watched the birds react to the oncoming winter, I humanized them in my mind, imagining emotional reactions to the oncoming winter, culminating with their flight in the last movement. An avid environmentalist, I also thought of the birds (and perhaps our children) as some of the first creatures affected by steadily increasing pollution."
Annabelle Taubl, harp
Editor's Note: I've always liked how modal this piece is (like how in the 3rd movement it's basically like Mixolydian but with a whole tone scale blended in), and there's something about the repeats that remind me of Janacek in a way. The way it's typeset is interesting too, it reminds me of a typewriter in a way. The physical music is a lot longer and thinner compared to a normal piece of sheet music. Anyways this piece is cool and hopefully I'll learn it some day lol.
